Iris Rajanayagam ist Historikerin (Köln, Dar es Salaam und Berlin) und arbeitet zu post- und dekolonialen Theorien, Intersektionalität, Erinnerungspolitik(en) und Social Change; ihr Fokus liegt hierbei insbesondere auf der Verbindung von Theorie und Praxis. Sie ist Referentin für Diversität, Intersektionalität und Dekolonialität bei der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (bpb) und ehemalige Leiterin der Organisation xart splitta , wo sie u.a. die Online-Plattform The Living Archives initiiert und mit aufgebaut hat. Überdies lehrte sie viele Jahre an der Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin (ASH) im Modul „Rassismus und Migration“ sowie im internationalen Masterstudiengang „Social Work as a Human Rights Profession”. Von 2017 bis 2019 war sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Praxisforschungsprojekt “Passkontrolle – Leben ohne Papiere in Geschichte und Gegenwart” an der ASH (Leitung: Prof. Dr. Iman Attia) und war an der Gestaltung der Seite Verwobene Geschichte*n mitbeteiligt. Zwischen 2019 und Juni 2021 war sie Vorstandssprecherin des Migrationsrat Berlin. Iris Rajanayagam ist überdies Mitbegründerin der Radiosendung „Talking Feminisms“ bei reboot.fm.
Iris Rajanayagam is a historian (Cologne, Dar es Salaam and Berlin) and works on post- and decolonial theories, intersectionality, politics of memory(s) and social change; her focus is especially on the connection between theory and practice. She is a consultant for diversity, intersectionality and decoloniality at the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb) and former director of the organization xart splitta , where she initiated and co-founded the online platform The Living Archives, among others. Furthermore, she taught for many years at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH) in the module „Racism and Migration“ as well as in the international master’s program „Social Work as a Human Rights Profession“. From 2017 to 2019, she was a research assistant in the practice research project „Passport Control – Living Without Papers in History and Present“ at ASH (Head: Prof. Dr. Iman Attia) and was involved in the design of the page Verwobene Geschichte*n. Between 2019 and June 2021, she was the board spokesperson of the Migration Council Berlin. Iris Rajanayagam is also co-founder of the radio show „Talking Feminisms“ at reboot.fm.
