PD Dr Mariam Popal, Ideenträgerin und Initiatorin der FG DeKolonial, arbeitet im Bereich der Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft (AVL). Ihre Promotion diskutiert die Bedeutung von ‚Recht’/’Scharia‘ aus postkolonialer und rechtsvergleichender Sicht unter Einbezug kritischer feministischer Schwarzer und postkolonialer Theorien und wurde mit summa cum laude abgeschlossen (Universität Hamburg). Ihre Habilitationsarbeit in der Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft behandelt das poetologische Wirken des ‚Berührens‘ und die Affektivität und Dialogizität von Humor aus literaturtheoretischer Sicht und in zeitgenössischen, postkolonialen Romanen.
Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen darüber hinaus: (Literatur-)Theorie, WeltLiteratur, Literatur/Philosophie, Psychoanalytische Theorien, Recht und Literatur, Kritische Narratologie, Filmtheorie und Fotografie-Studien, InterArt Studies, Dekoloniale und Postkoloniale Theorie, Gender & Queer Studies, Critical Race Studies, Postkoloniale Shakespeare Studien, Critical Afghan Studies und Anti-Orientalismen.

Mariam Popal, PD PhD provider of the idea and initiater of the FG DeKolonial works in the field of General & Comparative Literature. Her PhD deals with the meaning of ‚law’/’Sharia within Comparative Law and Black and Postcolonial Feminist Theories, and was awarded summa cum laude (University of Hamburg). Her habilitation thesis is about the poetology of ‚touch/ing‘ and the affectivity and dialogicity of humor in literary theory and contemporary postcolonial novels.
