Ich bin wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Soziologie mit den Schwerpunkten Kultur und Migration sowie Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. Seit 2008 bin ich international in Lehre und Forschung tätig und arbeite transdisziplinär in der Soziologie und den Medien-, Film- und Kulturwissenschaften zu den Themen Rassismus, Kolonialismus und Intersektionalität. Ich habe 2016 am Goldsmiths, University of London, in Media and Cultural Studies promoviert mit einer ethnographischen Studie zur Entstehung und Institutionalisierung der postmigrantischen Theaterbewegung, der Diversifizierung von Kulturpolitik und Kulturförderung und den prekären Arbeitsbedingungen von Künstler*innen of Colour in Berlin.
Die seit drei Jahrzehnten bestehende aktivistische Arbeit, die nun auch in einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit zu antirassistischen und antifaschistischen Bewegungen, den Opfern rassistischer, politischer Gewalt und intersektionalen Perspektiven auf Gerechtigkeit und Erinnerung in Deutschland mündete, wurde kürzlich im Sammelband „Rassismus.Macht.Vergessen. Von München über den NSU bis Hanau. Symbolische und materielle Kämpfe entlang rechten Terrors“ (Hrsg. Nobrega, Quent, Zipf, 2021) beim transcript Verlag veröffentlicht.
Ein weiteres langjähriges aktivistisches und wissenschaftliches Projekt, das ich seit 2010 in Zusammenarbeit mit dem afro-türkischen Verein Izmir verfolge, ist die Sichtbarmachung und Analyse kolonialer Kontinuitäten des antischwarzen Rassismus in der Türkei und der türkeistämmigen Diaspora.
I am a research associate at the Institute of Sociology with a focus on culture and migration as well as women’s and gender studies at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. I have been internationally active in teaching and research since 2008, working transdisciplinarily in sociology and media, film and cultural studies on the topics of racism, colonialism and intersectionality. I completed my PhD in Media and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2016 with an ethnographic study on the emergence and institutionalization of the post-migrant theater movement, the diversification of cultural policies and funding, and the precarious working conditions of artists* of color in Berlin.
The activist work, which has existed for three decades and has now also resulted in scholarly work on anti-racist and anti-fascist movements, the victims of racist political violence, and intersectional perspectives on justice and memory in Germany, was recently published in the anthology „Rassismus.Macht.Vergessen. From Munich to the NSU to Hanau. Symbolic and Material Struggles Along Right-Wing Terror“ (eds. Nobrega, Quent, Zipf, 2021) published by transcript Verlag.
Another longstanding activist and scholarly project that I have been pursuing since 2010 in collaboration with the Afro-Turkish Association Izmir is the visualization and analysis of colonial continuities of anti-Black racism in Turkey and the diaspora of Turkish origin.
