Pinar Tuzcu (Dr. phil.) promovierte im Juni 2015 am Fachbereich Soziologie der Vielfalt an der Universität Kassel und arbeitete von Juni 2015 bis Juni 2018 als Postdoc-Stipendiatin am selben Fachbereich an der Universität Kassel. Von 2018-2020 arbeitete sie am Projekt „Migrantischer Feminismus in der Deutschen Frauenbewegung (1985-2000) – Intersektionale Erkundungen“ zusammen mit Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez am Fachbereich Soziologie der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen und von Oktober 2019-April 2020 hatte sie eine Vertretungsprofessur am selben Fachbereich an der JLU inne. Von 2016-2020 war sie eines der gewählten Vorstandsmitglieder der Sektion „Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung“ der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziologie (DGS).
Tuzcu ist Autorin eines Buches mit dem Titel „Ich bin eine Kanackin“ Decolonizing Popfeminism. Transcultural Perspectives on Lady Bitch Ray“ (Transcript Verlag, 2017). Eine ihrer Publikationen erschien in Feminist Media Studies unter dem Titel „Allow access to location? Digital Feminist Geographies“ (2016) als Teil der Sonderausgabe Digital Feminisms: Transnational Activism in German Protest Cultures. Gemeinsam mit Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez und Heidemarie Winkel war sie auch Mitherausgeberin der Sonderausgabe Feminisms in times of anti-genderism, racism and austerity (2018), die vom Women’s Studies International Forum herausgegeben wurde. Tuzcu ist zusammen mit Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez auch Mitherausgeberin des demnächst erscheinenden Buches Migrantischer Feminismus (edition assemblage Verlag, 2021). Ihre Forschungs- und Lehrinteressen umfassen zeitgenössische queer-feministische Theorien, Postmigrationsstudien, algorithmische Verzerrungen und kritisches Kodieren, dekoloniale Ansätze und Forschungsmethodologien. Sie ist außerdem eine der Projektleiterinnen der internationalen Forschungsgruppe Digital Feminist Collective und eine der Hauptantragstellerinnen und Projektkoordinatorinnen des von der Volkswagenstiftung geförderten Projekts „Re:Coding Algorithmic Culture“ an der Universität Kassel am Fachgebiet Soziologie der Vielfalt. Sie forscht und lehrt und hat kürzlich einen Artikel über Cyberkolonialismus veröffentlicht.
Pinar Tuzcu (Dr. phil.) completed her Phd in June 2015 at the Department of Sociology of Diversity at the University of Kassel and between June 2015-June 2018 she worked at the same department at the University of Kassel as a postdoc fellow. Between 2018-2020 she worked on the project entitled “Migrantischer Feminismus in der Deutschen Frauenbewegung (1985-2000) — Intersektionale Erkundungen“ together with Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez at the Department of Sociology at the Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen and between Oktober 2019-April 2020, she held a guess professor position at the same department at the JLU. Between 2016-2020, she served as one of the elected council members of the section “Women’s and Gender Studies” of the German Society for Sociology (DGS).
Tuzcu is the author of a book titled ‘Ich bin eine Kanackin’ Decolonizing Popfeminism. Transcultural Perspectives on Lady Bitch Ray (Transcript Verlag, 2017). One of her publications appeared in Feminist Media Studies with the title “Allow access to location? Digital Feminist Geographies” (2016) as a part of a special issue Digital Feminisms: Transnational Activism in German Protest Cultures. She also co-edited the special issue Feminisms in times of anti-genderism, racism and austerity (2018) together with Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez and Heidemarie Winkel published by Women’s Studies International Forum. Tuzcu, together with Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez, also the co-editor of the forthcoming book Migrantischer Feminismus (edition assemblage Verlag, 2021). Her research and teaching interests include contemporary queer feminist theories, postmigration studies, algorithmic bias and critical coding, decolonial approaches and research methodologies. She is also one of the project leads in the international research group Digital Feminist Collective and one of the main applicants and the project coordinator of the project entitled “Re:Coding Algorithmic Culture” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation at the University Kassel at the Department of Sociology of Diversity. She is researching, teaching and has recently published an article on Cybercolonialism.
